Dr. ALAN GOLDBERG

Dr. Alan Goldberg is a nationally known expert in the field of applied sport and performance psychology. Dr. Goldberg works with athletes and teams across all sports at every level, from professional and Olympic caliber, right down to junior competitors. He specializes in helping performers overcome fears and blocks, snap out of slumps and perform to their potential.
Dr. Goldberg is a regular and popular presenter at coaches' clinics, colleges and high schools across the country. He is known for his ability to take the subject of peak performance and present it in a humorous, practical and easy-to-understand manner. He has been a repeat speaker at numerous national conventions.
Dr. Goldberg received his doctorate in counseling psychology from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He is a former No. 1 singles player for the UMass Minutemen tennis team and twice won the conference championship. Dr. Goldberg coached tennis for 22 years. He is a first-degree black belt in Shurin Ryu karate.
Dr. Goldberg is the author of audio-tape mental toughness training programs for athletes and he writes on peak performance for a number of national publications, including Collegiate Baseball, Swimming World, The NSCAA Soccer Journal, International Gymnast, The Diver, Women's Fast Pitch World and Swim Magazine.
As the Director of Competitive Advantage, an Amherst, Massachusetts-based performance consulting firm, Dr. Goldberg maintains a private practice. In addition to his work helping athletes get unstuck and back on track, Dr. Goldberg, as a trained hypnotherapist, specializes in teaching self-hypnosis for the relief of chronic pain.
