Behind The Scenes At PPGSports

Lou Birdt, 30, is an entrepreneur with an impressive background in baseball and softball. His extensive experience as a student-athlete and instructor enables him to relate to today's athlete on an intimate level. Birdt knows the game and wants to spread the word through the coaching staff he has assembled for

After attending Calabasas (California) High School, Birdt pitched at Pierce College in Woodland Hills, Calif., from 1989-1991. He recorded the second-lowest single season earned-run average ever in the Western State Conference at 0.99 and was a unanimous Western State Conference selection. Birdt transferred to California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, Calif., and helped the team make Division III World Series appearances in 1992 and 1993.

After one year of playing professional baseball, Birdt turned to teaching and coaching. He was pitching coach in 1994 at Agoura High School and in 1995 at Westlake High School before becoming pitching coach at Moorpark College from 1996-1998. Birdt also served as an instructor at the nationally renowned Jaeger Baseball Academy for several years.

Birdt has served as a private trainer for more than 400 amateur and professional players and he spent the past five off-seasons working with major and minor league players on mechanics, mental skills and flexibility.
